Engaging Telehealth Activities for Young Children, Adolescents & Teens for Individual and Group Therapy

Join clinicians Emily Becker-Weidman, PhD and Michelle Barahman, PhD for an online discussion on using innovative multimedia teletherapy techniques with children and adolescents in individual and group therapy. Attendees will learn creative new teletherapy techniques for engaging clients while providing them with evidence based treatment, which can be implemented directly following the webinar.

Dr. Emily Becker-Weidman is a child and adolescent psychologist with expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults and attachment-focused family therapy.  She is an ACT certified Cognitive Therapist and intensively trained in DBT.  Dr. Becker-Weidman also has training in assessment and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders, training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy and Neuropsychological evaluation.  Further, she is is trained in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and is a Certified Attachment-Focused Family Therapist.  Dr. Becker-Weidman is currently the Clinical Director of the New York City Division of the Center For Family Development, Director of Training and Director of the Adoption and Attachment Center at The Child and Family Institute, Clinical Supervisor at Columbia University Teacher’s College, Clinician with the Hudson Valley Center for Cognitive Therapy, and President of the Clinical Division of WCPA.  Dr. Becker-Weidman provides individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults, provides attachment-focused family therapy for children with developmental trauma, and conducts psychiatric diagnostic evaluations for new clients.  
Dr. Becker-Weidman earned her B.A. in psychology and health & societies from the University of Pennsylvania and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine under the mentorship of Dr. Mark Reinecke. She completed her Psychology Internship at New York University/Bellevue Hospital Center in New York, NY and a two-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the NYU Child Study Center. Dr. Becker-Weidman is a member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), the American Psychological Association (APA), the New York City Adoption/Foster Care Therapist Network, the New York City Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Association (NYC-CBT), and the New Jersey Psychological Association.  She has presented research at several national conferences, co-authored three book chapters on child and adolescent psychopathology, and published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Michelle Barahman, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist trained in evidence-based and integrative psychotherapy practices, including Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT), Interpersonal (IPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Psychodynamic Therapies. She completed her doctorate in clinical psychology at St. John's University and has worked with people of diverse sociocultural backgrounds and in a broad range of hospitals, community clinics, and private practices throughout New York.
 
Dr. Barahman provides treatment to children, adolescents, and adults.  In addition to individual psychotherapy, Dr. Barahman is experienced with providing group therapy in a wide range of settings, including art, cognitive-behavioral, skills-based, and process groups for individuals of all ages. Dr. Barahman also has experience performing neuropsychological assessments in both clinical and research settings. She has supervised psychology trainees and has been an invited guest lecturer.  Dr. Barahman has co-authored a number of professional journal articles and book chapters, presented at numerous national conferences, and has contributed to the creation of technology-based psychological interventions.  She is presently employed in group private practice and works for Magellan Health’s Employee Assistance Program, where she has a role in program development and design, as well as treatment, for trainees in the Sloan Kettering Institute, Gerstner Sloan Kettering Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Office of Graduate Medical Education at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
